Maria's Mexican Grill and Cantina

The Ortega family dreamt of opening a restaurant.  One day they visited Joplin city and the first thing they did was testing the Mexican food. Then, they realized something fresher, authentic, and different from the other restaurants was missing.  Focused and motivated for the restaurant idea, they looked for a locality that had all the amenities their patrons would need. The dream of the family was coming true: the experience of the father (Francisco Ortega), the financial support of the older brother (Hugo Ortega), and the hard work of the family were the main ingredients for the start of Maria’s Mexican Grill & Cantina. The restaurant opened its doors on February 25^th, 2005, marking the realization of a big dream and the starting point of a totally different restaurant. Our first guests instantly felt the change in the food and our reputation began to build up in Joplin and the nearbies.

The Ortega family is pleased to welcome you to our restaurant. We want you to give us the opportunity to be your host. We have a wide variety of authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex dishes. Our menu is full of options: tacos, enchiladas, fajitas, burritos, sea food, and many more. Besides, we are the only restaurant that has its own tortilla maker workshop. But our specialties go beyond food; we also have a great variety of margaritas, sangrias, beers, among many other beverages.
